Known for unique designs, Brinkman’s creativity is particularly evident here in the picturesque lattice used as architectural ornament. A stuccoed chimney and dormer panel complement the narrow clapboard siding while the original flower boxes, still in use, are a charming decorative touch. Brinkman’s meticulous details carry through to the beautifully finished interior where original features include oak, maple, and larch flooring; a built-in breakfast nook; and a fireplace of Great Falls light brick with a central concrete shield and denticulated mantel. The home and small matching garage, built to accommodate a typical 1920s vintage automobile, was designed for Cannon Clothing Company manager Elmer Sonstelie and his Norwegian-born wife, Josephine. The property remained in the Sonstelie family until the 1990s.","sponsor":null,"accessinfo":"Private","lede":"","website":"","related_resources":["<a href=\"https://npgallery.nps.gov/NRHP/GetAsset/f7ad2a10-46b8-402a-bc13-4c41bb485f78\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read about the West Side Historic District</a>","<a href=\"https://npgallery.nps.gov/NRHP/GetAsset/5b645a26-b5ef-4663-a0be-8bab78cd7bbe/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See photos of the West Side Historic District</a>"],"factoids":[],"files":{"https://mail.historicmt.org/files/fullsize/0591a464bd5d471b1d02de95b763aeee.jpg":{"id":2834,"mime-type":"image/jpeg","title":"Elmer Sonstelie Residence","description":"Elmer Sonstelie Residence (PAc 91-51 Kalispell R47 F07).
